Fun for all at free Baschurch community event
An afternoon of fun is promised as a number of key local organisations get together for an event on Saturday 3 September at The Corbet School, Baschurch.
Groups including Boreatton Scouts, Baschurch Allotment Association, Perry Riding Group, Baschurch Pre School, Ruyton History Group, Corbet Friends, Bowling Clubs, Baschurch Tennis Club and Baschurch Football Club are involved with the fun day, taking place from 12pm to 4pm.
Activities at the event will include those provided by Reccy Rangers, mobile skatepark and BMX facilities, climbing wall, craft table, toy stall, boccia bowls, bouncy castle, rides and stands. There will be refreshments and food available provided by groups participating.
Councillor Steve Charmley, chairman of the Five Perry Parishes Local Joint Committee (covering the parishes of Whittington, West Felton, Hordley, Ruyton-XI-Towns and Baschurch) hosting the event said:
“The Local Joint Committee wanted to try something different this year encouraging groups who have received funding to come along and join in the fun. It’s a great opportunity for local groups to fundraise and raise awareness of their club. We encourage all local people from the area to come along, as entrance is free with some great activities such as the mobile skatepark for young people to enjoy free of charge. We hope people come along and support the groups that are participating in what should be a fun afternoon.”
Sarah Richards, Baschurch Allotment Association treasurer, said:
“We are really looking forward to the afternoon as a chance to showcase what the association has achieved this last year. We will also have some tasty produce and preservatives for people to buy should they wish. It is a great opportunity to give something back as we were so grateful of the support that the committee gave us to help with the setup of the new allotments that have been very well received in the area. It should be a great afternoon for local people and families and we hope people come and visit our stand on the day.”
