Burnell and Severn Valley Local Joint Committee (LJC) met at Pitchford Village Hall on Monday 26 September 2011.

The committee heard Alison Brock’s presentation about countywide broadband, and all agreed on the importance of equalising broadband speeds across the county in order to support communication, the economy and education.  For more information please go to http://connectingshropshire.co.uk.

CSO Dave Baron spoke about the positive impact the LJC’s funding for youth activities had made over the summer holidays, and the committee recognised his superb input into the area.

Chris Jones from the Pitchford Village Hall Management Committee came to the meeting to thank the LJC for the grant they gave towards funding the replacement roof.  The completion of the roof has led on to the management committee working on other projects, including working with the Women’s Institute to improve access to the hall, and they are now looking forward to the Community Payback Team redecorating the hall over the next few weekends.

Chair of the LJC, Shropshire Councillor Claire Wild, said:

“I am very pleased with how the LJC meeting went.  It was lovely to hear from Chris Jones about how the LJC grant that Pitchford Village Hall received has helped them to move forward.  It is always nice to welcome our partners to the LJC, and we would all like to acknowledge the work of CSO Dave Baron across our area.  We feel really lucky to have him.”

The next meeting of the Burnell and Severn Valley LJC will be on Monday 5 March 2012 at 7.30pm. at Cound Guildhall.
