Longville Culvert closure

Related topics: Uncategorized

Longville Culvert will be closed to traffic from Monday 22 August 2011 for up to two weeks to enable essential repair work to be carried out to it.

The culvert carries the unclassified road from Longville-in-the-Dale to Cardington over a watercourse.

The work will involve rebuilding the damaged section of the culvert’s downstream parapet following vehicle impact.

Due to the narrow nature of the road, the culvert must be closed while the work is being done for safety reasons.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted via Gretton, Plaish and Longville-in-the-Dale.  Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the culvert throughout the works.

Councillor Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport, said:

“It is appreciated that the proposed work may cause some inconvenience and every reasonable effort will be made to complete it as soon as possible”.
