A day of fun and games will be held in Market Drayton on Wednesday 17 August 2011, featuring music, nature walks and stories.

Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centre services are holding the Get Active Day at the town park on Buntingsdale Road, Market Drayton, to promote healthy lifestyles to families with children under five, as part of the Government’s “Change For Life Really Big Summer Adventure”.

The event, from 11am to 3pm, will be supported by the Shropshire Playbus Association and Shropshire storyteller Sally Tonge.  A range of fun activities will be on offer for families, including a nature walk, music, movement and storytime.

The local Sure Start children’s centre support workers will be on hand to answer questions and offer support.  Older siblings are welcome to attend with their families.

Meanwhile, a successful Get Active Day took place on Thursday 28 July at the Sure Start Children’s Centre at Whitchurch CE Infant and Nursery School.

More than 40 children and parents came along to enjoy the activities on offer, including a mini-assault course and sampling ‘Five a Day’ healthy snacks.
