Bridgnorth community event

Bridgnorth residents can get involved with improving their community at an event in the Tasley area of the town later this month.

The Bridgnorth West & Tasley Taking Action Together Partnership is holding a community drop-in event on Thursday 25 August, 4pm to 6.30pm, at St Leonard’s Hall, Racecourse Drive.

The event is open to all residents who live in Tasley, including the Wenlock Rise estate and the Bridgnorth West area, down to the bottom of Sydney Cottage Drive.

Residents who came to the first one on 29 January raised and prioritised a number of different issues.  Since then, the partnership has been working together and involving some resident volunteers to plan and deliver actions to address those issues.

The partnership now welcomes comments, suggestions and involvement in a number of projects which were requested by residents.  These include a Good Neighbourhood Agreement, a Local Lettings Plan, a new car park, a proposed community garden, possible names for the flats in Tasley Close, and a social network (hyper-local) community website for the area.

There will also be information about the practical details and timetables for the new car park and communal bin stores in Tasley Close, for which contracts are about to be awarded.

A first open resident’s forum will take place after the community drop-in event, at the hall, between 7pm and 8pm.  This will be an opportunity to raise issues with individual officers and councillors.  Residents can decide what structure they would like the forum to take, how often and when it should meet, whether there should be a committee or lead representative, and how the forum will link in with the local social website.  The website will have pages for local residents and the partnership to help them talk to each other.

Councillor Les Winwood, Shropshire Council member for Bridgnorth West and Tasley, said:

“Working together with partners has proved to be so successful and we can now report back to residents on all that is happening in Bridgnorth West and Tasley.  I urge residents to come along to the event.”

For further information, please contact the Partnership Coordinator, Yvette Greasley, on 01746 713255, or either of your two local Shropshire Councillors, Les Winwood or John Hurst-Knight.
