Woodfield Bridge, Claverley, to close for repairs

Related topics: Uncategorized

Woodfield Bridge which carries the Claverley to Upper Ludstone Road over the Claverley Brook on the outskirts of Claverley, will be closed to traffic for up to four weeks starting on Monday 25 July 2011.

The closure is required to enable work to be carried out to repair the eroded bed of the brook under the bridge. Unfortunately, because of the narrow nature of the bridge, the work cannot be done safely without closing the bridge to traffic.

When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via the A458, A454 and B4176 roads via Upper Farmcote, Bridgnorth and Rudge Heath. Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the works.

Councillor Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport, said:

“We appreciate that this work may cause some inconvenience. Every reasonable effort will be made to complete it and reopen the road as soon as possible.”
