Shropshire Archives joins Facebook

Shropshire Council’s Shropshire Archives has taken the plunge into the new world of social media by establishing a presence on Facebook.

Although an archive service may seem an unlikely customer of Facebook, with over 750 million users, many of them young people, Shropshire Archives sees this as a great opportunity to reach a wider audience.

Councillor Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member, said:

“Shropshire Archives holds over nine kilometres of books, archives and photographs telling the stories of Shropshire and its people over a thousand years.  We want this wonderful resource to be available to everyone.  Facebook allows for a two-way conversation with our customers across the world, and we hope people will join in and share what they know about Shropshire and its history.”

The Shropshire Archives page can be found by clicking here.  You can also log in to Facebook and search ‘Shropshire Archives’.
