Shropshire Council will begin work to resurface London Road (A51) in Woore next week (1 August 2011).

For this essential work to be carried out safely, the road will need to be closed for around nine days.

To limit any disruption to residents and motorists the work will be split into two phases.

The first phase will take place from Monday 1 until Friday 5 August between the A51/A525 crossroads and the 30mph signs at the south end of the village. During this work this section of road will be closed from 9am to 5pm.

No work will take place over the weekend. The second phase will start on Monday 8 until Thursday 11 August across the crossroads to the 30mph at the north end of the village. During this work this section of road will be closed from 7pm to 7am.

Access to properties will be maintained at all times during the closures.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport, said:

“This is just one of the many excellent schemes taking place across the county to maintain our roads.

“Although we understand that this essential work may cause some disruption to residents, someone will be on hand throughout the closures to advise those needing access to their homes. We will also, as always, endeavour to complete the resurfacing as soon as possible.”

The work will be undertaken on behalf of Shropshire Council by contractors Tarmac National Contracting and their engineering consultants Mouchel.
