People living in Albrighton are being encouraged to take part in a community litter pick in the village on Wednesday 10 August 2011.

The litter pick has been organised by Shropshire Council’s environmental maintenance team as part of the national Big Tidy Up campaign and it is being carried out in addition to their routine street cleaning schedule.

The litter pick will be focusing on Newport Road, Worthington Drive, Loak Road, St Cuthberts Crescent, Bowling Green Lane, Elm Road including the play area, Church Road, Abney Avenue including the play area, Albert Road and High Street.

Officers will be in the car park next to the Crown public house on the High Street at 9.30am to meet volunteers and give a brief health and safety talk.  Litter picking equipment will be provided.  The litter pick will finish at around noon.

Councillor Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy cabinet member, said:

“Everyone is welcome to come along on the day. I hope that as many people as possible will lend a hand in this joint effort between council and community to keep Albrighton clean and tidy.”
