The question put to voters on Thursday 5 May was: “At present, the UK uses the ‘first past the post’ system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. Should the ‘alternative vote’ system be used instead?”
The turn-out in Shropshire was 42.15 per cent, and the result was:
Yes: 27,221 votes (28.4 per cent)
No: 68,732 votes (71.6 per cent)
