Related topics: Leisure, culture and heritage

Starting in May 2011, Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery will run a new series of mini-workshops for its youngest visitors, their parents and carers.

“Under 5s Museum Fun” is a monthly event full of songs, stories and activities for pre-school children.  Each session will focus on different parts of the museum collection and link them with a fun- filled children’s programme.

The first workshop, which will be dedicated to dinosaurs and fossils,  takes place on Wednesday 11 May 2011 from 10.30am in the geology gallery of Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery.

Theresa Bradbury, one of the museum volunteers, who is going to facilitate some of the Under 5s sessions, said:

“I am really looking forward to this new programme.  As a mother of two primary school-age children, I have been to many museum activities in the past.  It is great that we can now offer something exciting for our youngest visitors too!”

“Under 5s Museum Fun” will take place at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery in Rowley’s House every second Wednesday of the month during term times.  The next dates are:

Wednesday 11 May 2011

Wednesday 8 June 2011

Wednesday 13 July 2011

Sessions last half an hour and are free of charge.  Pre-booking is required as places are limited.
