Make a difference – volunteer with the home library service

Shropshire Council is calling for new volunteers to join its important home library service teams in Gobowen and Oswestry.

The council is looking for anyone with an interest in reading books and meeting new people to help deliver library books to those who have difficulty getting out and about.

For simply offering some of their spare time, volunteers can expect extremely rewarding roles which involve choosing and delivering books to people in their own homes.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and leisure, said:

“We rely on our fantastic, dedicated volunteers to deliver this service which can make a very real difference to people’s lives, especially for those living in our more rural areas or those who don’t have someone to go to the library for them.

“We are now looking for new volunteers to join our existing teams.”
