A lifetime achievement award was given to M J Pugh for his life long service to the building industry in Shropshire.

The winners of the Shropshire awards will now go forward to represent Shropshire in the West Midlands regional final of the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) building excellence awards in spring 2011.

The regional winners will then represent the West Midlands at the LABC national awards in London in late 2011, where they will be up against winners from 11 other UK regions.

Councillor Mal Price, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for planning and housing, said: “These awards recognise some of the many excellent building schemes that were completed across the county last year. I congratulate all of our winners and wish them well in the regional final.”

Councillor Adrian Lawrence, cabinet member for Environment and Rural, said: “This was a fantastic event that showcased the very high quality building projects that have been constructed in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin over the past year. I think we are right to be proud of the quality of the new builds that are being brought forward in the two council areas and I hope these awards become an annual event.”

Presenters of the awards included Ian Kilby head of development management at Shropshire Council, Michael Barker, head of housing and planning at Telford & Wrekin Council, and Councillor Adrian Lawrence, Cabinet member at Telford & Wrekin Council.
