Invite to local businesses to sponsor grass cutting

The warmer weather and lighter nights mean that Shropshire Council is busy again cutting grass alongside roads, footpaths, cycleways and on roundabouts, keeping the county tidy and maintaining visibility for motorists.

Grass in urban and rural areas is cut regularly from late March though to October.

As part of its continued commitment to helping to boost the local economy and provide better value-for-money for local council tax payers, the council has launched a completely new initiative, enabling local businesses to sponsor grass cutting across the county.

To kick start this, local company Denmans of Whitchurch is now the proud new sponsor of grass cutting on the Wrexham Road roundabout and the council is inviting more businesses to get on board.

Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport and IT, said: “This is a great way of highlighting local businesses and something that we haven’t done before. I’d like to encourage businesses to get in touch and find out how they can advertise with us.

“It’s just one of the ways we’re doing things differently as part of our wider approach to transforming local public services.”
