The origins, ethos and development of Forest Schools will be explored at Shropshire Council’s first International Forest School Conference, being held from 10 to 12 May 2011.

On Tuesday 10 May, key note speaker will be Professor Tanya Byron, who has published four books on child behaviour and is a consultant in child and adolescent mental health.

On Wednesday 11 May speaker will be Claire Warden – Founder and Senior Consultant of the Mindstretchers Philosophy.

There will be workshops on both days that will focus on early years, primary and secondary.

The conference is suitable for those new to Forest School and those that are experienced practitioners.

The Conference will close on Thursday 12 May with a day dedicated to trained Forest School Practitioners. This final day will take place at three of our woodland sites, with a different focus at each. There will be a morning and afternoon session at each site and practitioners will be able to access two of these sessions during the day.

Transport to workshops and woodlands will be included in the cost. Booking details and more information will be available nearer the time.
