Repair work is due to start on Gasworks Bridge in Oswestry next Monday
(28 February 2011) after it was damaged by a vehicle.

The bridge, which carries the B4579 Salop Road over the Cambrian railway line, will be repaired under traffic light control.

Work will involve taking down and rebuilding part of the bridge parapet and replacing a boundary fence. Access over the bridge for pedestrians will remain available throughout the work, which is expected to take around two weeks to complete.

Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport
and IT, said:

“It is appreciated that these essential repairs will cause some inconvenience, and we will do all that we reasonably can to complete the work as soon as possible.”
