We currently have no confirmed cases in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin as at Friday 28 February 2020 midday.

The risk of contracting COVID-19 remains low.

We want to assure you that both Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council, along with colleagues working in the NHS and Public Health England, are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases, and are working together to plan and prepare for any changes in the situation, should they arise. We are working closely together as partners on the evolving situation with the outbreak of COVID-19, novel coronavirus, to ensure we follow guidelines.

Government advice is being updated regularly and Public Health England has addressed common questions through the PHE blog.

Catch it bin it kill it

Catch it, bin it, kill it.

There are things you can do to protect you and your family and help stop germs like COVID-19 spreading:

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
