News from our partners: Have you packed your holiday essentials?
News from our partners Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
Getting set for your summer holidays? Are you all packed and have you remembered to put all your healthcare essentials in your suitcase?
NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is encouraging patients in the county to prepare for their holiday by ensuring that they take along important items to stay in good health this summer.
Make sure you are ‘Covered for Summer’ by taking along essentials such as plasters, sunscreen and paracetamol. They are just as important as packing away your favourite swimsuit and beach ball.
Whether you’re jetting off to warmer climes or spending the holidays at home, it is good practice to have:
- Sunscreen
- Antiseptic wipes
- Indigestion relief
- Allergy relief medicines (antihistamines)
- Oral rehydration salts
- Diarrhoea relief
- Plasters
- Paracetamol
- Ibuprofen
- Bite and sting cream.
You won’t need to go far to buy any of the healthcare essentials as they can be bought from your local pharmacy or supermarket.
You don’t need to spend a lot to be ‘Covered for Summer’, you can save money by choosing non-branded items.
The CCG has also issued a ‘Top Tips to Good Health this Summer’ where advice can be found for treating minor ailments such as cuts and grazes, bangs to the head, insect bites and stings as well as sun safety and dehydration.

Julian Povey, Chair of Shropshire CCG, said:
“Just as you would have travel insurance or your EHIC card for a summer holiday, it’s important to pack all your healthcare essentials too – you never know when you will need them.
“All the items on our ‘Covered for Summer’ list are easy to buy from your community pharmacy or your local supermarket. No need for a trip to your GP.”
