Blog: what motivates a service manager in our social work team?
In recognition of World Social Work Day we are sharing stories from our social care team.
This year’s theme is ‘Promoting the Importance of Human Relationships’.
Sarah Hollinshead-Bland, our service manager for operations, central area, tells us what motivates her in her role:-
This year I celebrate 30 years of working in the social care and health sector and what a privilege it has been and continues to be.
My career started in mental health services and, fancying a new challenge, I was then employed to set up a sexual health service for young people with the aim of reducing teenage pregnancy.
I then discovered the world of adult safeguarding, which has been my passion ever since. My career proves how much the field of social care has to offer as a career choice and I would definitely recommend it.
Although varied, each of my roles have a couple of things in common: fighting for the rights of people, and working in partnership with other organisations. These things remain my motivation to this day.
