Help give Much Wenlock a spring clean
People living in Much Wenlock are being encouraged to take part in a community litter pick in the town on Wednesday 21 March 2012.
The litter pick has been organised by Shropshire Council’s environmental maintenance team as part of the national Big Tidy Up campaign, and it is being carried out in addition to their routine streetcleaning schedule.
The litter pick will be focusing on Victoria Road, High Street, Wilmore Street, Sheinton Street, The Crescent, Farley Road, Barrow Street, St Mary’s Road, St Mary’s Lane, King Street, Queen Street, St Owens Road, Back Lane, Bull Ring and New Road.
Officers will be at St Mary’s Lane Car Park at 9.30am to meet volunteers and give a brief health and safety talk. Litter picking equipment will be provided. The litter pick will finish at around 12pm.
Councillor Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member, said:
“I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to join us on the day to pick up litter and help us keep Much Wenlock clean and tidy.”
Milner Whiteman, Shropshire Councillor for Much Wenlock, said:
“I hope that many people will volunteer to help with this litter pick in Much Wenlock so that we have the town looking clean and tidy ready for the summer season and welcoming the Olympic Torch on Wednesday 30 May 2012.”
