Footpaths in Oswestry get a spring clean
Shropshire Council’s streetscene team is working with the Probation Service Community Pay Back Team to uncover some overgrown footpaths in the Oswestry area.
Since January 2012, the Community Pay Back Team have cleared over 200 metres of footpaths that were overgrown with weeds, dirt, litter and leaves. The latest one to be restored to its former glory is on Henlle Lane in Gobowen.
The council’s highways team are also helping out by taking away the waste.
Councillor Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member with responsibility for streetscene, said:
“The Community Pay Back team have done a fantastic job clearing these paths ready for the warmer weather.”
Trevor Davies, a Shropshire Councillor for Gobowen, Selattyn and Weston Rhyn, said:
“I would like to thank the Pay Back Team for a job well done. I hope we will work with them again next year.”
The Community Pay Back Team also cleans the shop fronts in Oswestry town for the Footfall Project once a month.
