Feedback continues to shape future of adult social care
People receiving care and support from Shropshire Council are continuing to be asked for their views as part of ongoing work to develop and improve adult social care services.
More than 1,000 people at the heart of these services are being urged to share their thoughts and ideas on the care and support provided by the council and how this affects their quality of life.
The council is running the Adult Social Care Survey to gain this feedback, from the end of January 2012 to 9 March 2012.
The survey, a national initiative which the Government requires all councils providing adult social care services to carry out, enables the council to build on the consultation on adult social care which took place from July 2011 to September 2011. The consultation looked at how the council can deliver the best care possible through a variety of tailored services, developed by the people who use them, their carers, supporters, families and friends.
The consultation resulted in a wealth of information and data that fed into the creation of a new strategy for adult social care. The council made a commitment to carry out the actions in the strategy and continue to seek the views of people using services to feed into this work.
Councillor Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for adult social care, said:
“The Adult Social Care Survey provides another opportunity to ensure that services are being delivered in the best way possible.
“We will be inviting about one in 10 people receiving nursing, residential and home care services to share their views. We would urge anyone who receives a questionnaire to make sure they fill it in. People can ask a member of their family or a friend to help if needed, and we can provide large print and easy read versions, so please take your chance to tell us what you think.
“By involving people at the centre of our services as we move forward, they can continue to shape the future of adult social care and help us ensure that the most vulnerable members of our community can lead the lives they wish to lead.”
The results of the survey will help the council to identify the services which are valued the most and the areas where further improvements can be made.
The sample of people who will be surveyed has been taken from people receiving, or people who have received, care and support services from Shropshire Council in the past year.
