Acton Scott Farm opens its gates for Christmas
Acton Scott Historic Working Farm will be opening its gates to a host of festive activities this weekend (Saturday 10 December and Sunday 11 December 2011)
Due to last year’s success the farm will be extending its opening times. The farm will be open between 11.30am and 3.30pm on Saturday 10 December and Sunday 11 December 2011.
Visitors young and old will be able to enjoy the many demonstrations, trails and activities on offer, and have an opportunity to purchase some of the wonderful gifts on offer at the farm’s shop.
There will also be a special festive menu in the farm’s Schoolhouse Café, where you can enjoy a lovely warm drink and meal.
Entrance is just £3 for all ages, except under 5s who come in absolutely free. The entry fee also includes a complimentary drink and mince pie.
Acton Scott Historic Working Farm is run by Shropshire Council and is one of Britain’s leading working farm museums.
Over the last few years the farm has reached national status with hit BBC series Victorian Farm, and its follow-up Victorian Farm Christmas and Ben Fogle’s ‘Escape in Time’.
The farm is situated in the 18th century Home Farm of the Acton Scott Estate.
Councillor Mike Owen, Cabinet member responsible for tourism and culture, said:
“It’s great to hear that the farm has opened its gates to a host of fantastic Christmas activities. What a great way for visitors to start the festive season. There will be plenty to see, with music, trails and games, demonstrations, stalls, shop and seasonal food in the café. I encourage many to come along and join in the festivities.”
Local Shropshire Councillor for Corvedale, Cecilia Motley, added:
“Acton Scott has so much going on to help the festive season get off to a great start and keep the children entertained. I hope lots of people will take advantage of the weekend opening to visit and sample the delights on offer.”
Each day will be rounded off with carol singing in the farm’s fabulous oak-framed New Barn.
