Closure of Tetchill Bridge for repair work

Tetchill Bridge – which carries the C1029 over the Tetchill Brook – will be closed for repairs from 7 to 30 September [2026].
The work involves the installation of a concrete liner with application of a paint system, the construction of concrete down stands to both the upstream and downstream ends, new parapet posts to be installed with a replaced steel mesh infill panel to the parapet, and general vegetation removal from the structure.
To carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The closure will be in force 24/7.
When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route. For more information, please visit https://one.network/?GB150060300
Depending on their vehicle type, road users may be able to choose an alternative diversion route.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be available throughout the works, access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.
The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
To inform the public of the proposals, advance notice signs will be erected at the bridge and an information letter delivered to local properties.
