Ludlow Youth Centre repairs completed following vehicle collision

Repairs to the Ludlow Youth Centre building, damaged in a vehicle collision in April 2025, have now been completed.

The collision damage affected essential systems including the fire alarm and electrical distribution. Their failure meant the building wasn’t safe to occupy and many of the Community & Family Hub Services provided from the building were relocated to Helena Lane Community Centre.

Shropshire Council is now working closely with its voluntary sector partners and the local community to explore a number of options for the future delivery of services from the building. The aim is to meet local needs whilst making effective and sustainable use of the space available.

More information about which services will be delivered from the youth centre and when will be shared once plans are agreed.

Andy Hall, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children and education, said:

“I know that the closure of the building has been frustrating for local people but we’re now an important step closer to it reopening again. I’m delighted that repair work has now been completed. The building looks as good as new and I want to thank our contractors and everyone that has been involved with the repair work.

“We’ll now be working closely with local people and our partners to consider which services should be delivered from the building in future. I’ll be really pleased to see young people back in the youth centre, being used as it was intended. I know how much it has been missed by local young people and by other vital community groups.

Before repair work could be carried out a surveyor’s report had to be completed and shared with the council’s insurer. A loss adjuster review was then carried out before the insurance claim was settled, and work could begin.
