Shropshire Council partners with Citymapper to help people plan smarter journeys across the county

A new partnership brings together public transport, walking, cycling and on-demand travel in one easy-to-use app.

Making travel information easier to find and compare

Shropshire Council has partnered with Citymapper to make journey planning simpler, smarter and more convenient for people travelling across Shropshire and for onwards travel.

Officially launching today (3 August 2026), the award-winning Citymapper app brings together public transport, walking, cycling and Shrewsbury’s Connect on-Demand transport in one place, helping residents and visitors compare their options and choose the journey that works best for them.

From commuting and education to appointments, leisure trips and days out, the app gives people a clearer view of the travel choices available across Shropshire and beyond.

More ways to travel, one place to plan

Citymapper helps users plan complete journeys from start to finish by combining local bus and rail services with walking, cycling and on-demand transport options.

Rather than showing a single route, the app lets users compare different ways to travel, including journeys that combine more than one mode.

Cllr Rob Wilson, portfolio holder for transport and regeneration, said:

“By making travel information easier to find and compare, the council aims to help more people feel confident choosing public transport, walking and cycling for everyday journeys.

“It will also help us to shape future transport improvements. By using Citymapper, Shropshire residents are helping to shape future transport planning in the county, allowing us to understand trends, demand and connectivity.

Citymapper is available to download free of charge from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. An online journey planner is also available for those without access to mobile device apps.
