Get online with Shropshire Broadplaces

Related topics: Community

This week is National Get Online Week, which encourages thousands of adults, whatever their age and background, to have a go at getting online.

Shropshire Broadplaces, which are community-led IT facilities supported by Shropshire Council, hold several drop-in sessions around the county offering residents the chance to try their hand at getting online with the support of a friendly volunteer.

If you know a friend or family member who would enjoy going online but doesn’t quite have the confidence to go it alone, then bring them along to one of the many sessions held at the Broadplaces.   They are held throughout the year and not just during National Get Online Week.

Councillor Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for the voluntary and community sector, said:

“We hope people will take advantage of the opportunities available.  Learning to use the Internet can open up a whole new world, as well as save you money.  Everyone is welcome to come along – you can go at your own pace and there will be lots of support available from friendly volunteers within the local community.”
