Independent store Stone Age Fashion opened in The Darwin shopping centre in Shrewsbury on Saturday 3 August [2024]. The store is based in The Collective on the Centre’s lower level.

Shropshire resident William Stone owns Stone Age Fashion and is hugely knowledgeable and passionate about the fashion industry.

The store will sell a selection of Italian vintage fashion and items stocked will include high-end fashion brands like Prada and high-street brand favourites like GANT. The store will also sell a selection of well-known sports brands. William hand picks the items for the store, which are solely sourced from within the UK.

Home to 11 businesses, The Collective is a specially created shopping gallery for independent traders. William has been a fan of The Collective for years, as one of his favourite stores DVD Megastore used to operate from The Collective, and so when the opportunity came to him to open in this destination he quickly accepted.

William Stone, owner of Stone Age Fashion said:

“The Collective is an excellent space for local independent businesses, and I was very happy with the support I got from the Centre management team in the run-up to opening.  The Collective has a lovely atmosphere, and all the tenants truly support each other, so I am very excited to get going and welcome visitors to my store.”

Kevin Lockwood, Centre Manager of The Darwin, said:

“The Collective is home to a brilliant collection of independent businesses and has become a prominent destination in Shrewsbury for people looking for something unique and local. I’m delighted that William has chosen us to open his new store and I wish him every success in the months and years ahead.”
