Audiences rooting for Jack and the Beanstalk as panto season gets closer
Pantomime season is nearly upon us and ticket sales for Jack and the Beanstalk at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury are already growing as fast as the beanstalk.
The Shropshire Council-run theatre revealed almost 30,000 tickets have already been sold ahead of the opening night on Wednesday 29 November 2023.
The pantomime is written by Telford-born Paul Hendy and produced by Evolution, the hugely successful creative team behind pantomimes at Theatre Severn since 2011.
Theatre Severn is looking forward to welcoming back popular panto dame Brad Fitt, as Dame Trott, for the 12th season in a row, as well as theatre stars Reece Duncan as Jack, and Lucas Rush as panto baddy Luke Backinanger.
Tommy J Rollason will be bringing comedy to the show in the role of Billy, on the back of his success in last year’s Beauty and the Beast.
Robert Macey, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and digital, said:-
“Panto time is the busiest season for our theatre and I am delighted to hear we are welcoming Brad Fitt back for another run, this time as Dame Trott.
“The number of tickets already sold shows just how much the pantomime means to the people of Shropshire and even further afield. I would urge people to avoid disappointment and book their tickets now before it is a sell out.”
Writer and producer Paul Hendy added:-
“I’m absolutely thrilled we are back at Theatre Severn this year to produce Jack and the Beanstalk. We’ve got a fantastic cast ready to bring this timeless tale to life.
“The team is already working tirelessly and I’m excited to collaborate with Brad Fitt, as dame and director, again for a 12th year. Get ready for a magical adventure filled with laughter, surprises, and a whole lot of fun. It’s going to be a panto season like no other.”
Jack and the Beanstalk opens at Theatre Severn on Wednesday 29 November 2023 and runs until Sunday 7 January 2024. Tickets are available online at Jack and the Beanstalk at Theatre Severn or by calling the box office on 01743 281281.
