Talking to the animals and all that jazz at Severn Valley Country Park
Audiences can enjoy two great theatre performances in one day at Severn Valley Country Park next month.
The Tethered Wits Theatre Company is bringing Doctor Dolittle, suitable for audiences aged three years plus, to the Shropshire Council-run park on Thursday 27 July and later in the evening visitors will be transported to 1920s New York with a performance of the Great Gatsby.
Tethered Wits brings the beloved story of the extraordinary animal doctor Dr Dolittle to life using stunning puppetry. This hour-long production is ideal for children aged from three upwards and is sure to entertain everyone.
The Great Gatsbsy will see visitors transported to 1920s New York. Through the eyes of Nick Carraway, the audience is introduced to the high-fliers (and low-lifes) of glitzy Manhattan. However, when he meets a certain Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, he realises the parties are not always what they seem.
Featuring the music of Cole Porter and George Gershwin live on stage Tethered Wits will make it a party to remember. An undisputed gem of American literature, Fitzgerald’s critique of the Jazz Age captures the glamorous façade of the era in style. The performance is suitable for ages 12 and up.
Tethered Wits Theatre Company, founded in 2019, was set up by two Durham University graduates. Their aim is to bring vibrant takes on classic shows to local areas, which both excite and challenge audiences.
Tickets for both shows are available to book online here. Doctor Dolittle starts at 3pm. Adult £12, Child £10. The Great Gatsby starts at 7pm. General admission £16, Concession, £12.
Bring a picnic and low backed chairs to add to your comfort and remember our café will be open for refreshments, including ice creams.
