Award-winning poet bringing book tour to Ludlow
Award-winning poet Hollie McNish is bringing her book tour, “Slug…and other things I have been told to hate”, to Ludlow in partnership with Shropshire Council’s libraries service and Poetry On Loan.
Hollie, winner of the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry for her first book, a parenting memoir called Nobody Told Me, will be at Ludlow Assembly Rooms next month for a live reading of her latest work.
A blend of poetry, memoir and short story, Slug is a read about the human condition: from birth to death, and Hollie’s attempt to manage the tangle in-between.
Audiences are warned to ‘expect strong language and adult content ribbon wrapped in carefully and caringly sculpted poetry, as Hollie reads from and chats about her much anticipated new collection: Slug…and other things I’ve been told to hate’.
This performance is delivered in partnership with Shropshire Libraries and funded by Poetry on Loan, which promotes contemporary poetry across West Midlands.
Rob Gittins, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and digital, said:-
“It’s a delight to be able to work in partnership with these organisations to bring Hollie’s work to the county.
“Her work and her readings are nationally acclaimed and I am sure this will be a popular event with Shropshire audiences.”
