Small Shropshire branch library offers a big welcome
One of Shropshire Council’s smallest branch libraries is offering a big welcome to anyone wanting company and a chat.
Gobowen Library has launched its weekly drop-in sessions called ‘Happy Thursdays’ and is seeing attendance figures growing.
Olwen Davies, branch manager at Gobowen Library, said:-
“We’re really pleased with the response to our new, relaxed drop-in every Thursday.
“Attendance is increasing week by week and we’re fortunate that funding raised by the Friends of Gobowen Library ensures that every visitor gets a warm drink and a bite to eat. It’s so heartening to see that people are also enjoying some chat and companionship while they’re here in our warm, comfy space.”
Rob Gittins, Shropshire Council cabinet member for culture and digital, added:-
“Especially now with temperatures falling and people facing the increased cost of living it is wonderful that the Friends of Gobowen Library are going the extra mile to support the Happy Thursdays sessions.
“Our libraries always offer a safe space for people, whether they are looking to borrow books, seek advice and support or access the digital world.”
People are welcome to take part in the Happy Thursdays sessions every Thursday between 11am and 1pm.
