Temporary closure of Horsebridge Road Roundabout, Minsterley
Horsebridge Road Roundabout, which is located at the junction of the B4387 and B4499 roads in Minsterley, will be closed to traffic from 9am until 4.30pm on Wednesday 26 October 2011 for resurfacing work.
Although the roundabout was surfaced last year as part of a scheme to strengthen Minsterley Bridge, part of its surface is already showing signs of beginning to break up. The contractor who laid the surface will therefore be returning to site in October to replace the defective surface at their own cost.
When the roundabout is closed, traffic will be diverted via Lea Cross, Nox, Westbury and Brockton.
Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be affected by the proposed work.
Councillor Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport, said:
“It is appreciated that the closure of the roundabout will cause some inconvenience and all involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible. The timing of the closure has been deliberately chosen to coincide with the school half-term holiday to prevent disrupting school-related traffic.”
