Weekend shuttle bus takes to the hills again
The popular seasonal shuttle bus is back in service for visitors to the Shropshire Hills this weekend.
The Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership is welcoming passengers on board the Shuttle Buses for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.
From tomorrow (Thursday 2 June 2022) to Sunday 25 September 2022 the service will be running on routes through the Shropshire Hills every weekend and Bank Holiday, helping make roads less congested and visits more climate friendly.
The shuttles take people up onto the Long Mynd and around the Stiperstones. Stops along the way include the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve, the Bog Visitor Centre, the Stiperstones Inn and Bridges Country pub.
There are some great walks from, and between, the shuttle stops – passengers can stride out across the Long Mynd, explore the Golden Valley, hike along the Stiperstones ridge, or stroll along the easy access trail at the Bog.
Cecilia Motley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for communities, culture, leisure and tourism, and transport, said:-
“Visitors to the Shropshire Hills should really make the most of these shuttle services throughout the summer months.
“They are an ideal way to get to the starting points for walks, and to catch a ride home with weary legs after you have spent a day exploring. The shuttle service also helps keep traffic down and helps protect our environment.”
This year passengers on the shuttle service will also be able to pay for their tickets on board using contactless payment, cash and concessionary bus cards. A season ticket can also be purchased in advance.
