Cecilia Motley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for communities, culture, leisure and tourism, and transport, said:-

“The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee gives us a chance to pull together in our communities and celebrate not only this milestone occasion but all that is best about the places in which we live.

“Over the last couple of years the hidden strength of local communities has been revealed, and a street party or fete which brings everyone together on such a joyous occasion is a brilliant idea.

“We have approved 18 applications for street parties already and many more are expected. It is a simple process.

“‘If your community would like to hold a street party or other outdoor celebration, please be aware that you need to apply for permission to do so. Shropshire Council has a section on its website under Planning an event | Shropshire Council which takes you through the necessary steps, so hopefully you will find all your questions answered.

“All the information you need is there and there are links to help you plan your parties too. It is incredibly easy to do.”
