Rallying call for people to Think.Shop.Buy.Local online
A rallying call has been made for shoppers to support local business in lockdown – with Shropshire Council urging people to Think.Shop.Buy.Local online.
Although all non-essential shops are currently closed due to the national lockdown in place, many independent traders in the county are taking online orders and some are even offering home delivery.
This means you can still help boost your local economy while staying home and saving lives – giving traders the best possible start to 2021.
In December 2020 we asked you to spend £3.80 a week with a local trader to help give our economy a £1 million weekly boost.
And now we have repeated that plea – and hope you will join legions of others in backing our businesses.
Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for economic growth, assets and regeneration, said:
“We were contacted by dozens of businesses in support of our Think. Shop. Buy.Local campaign in the run up to Christmas and many of them reported a genuine boost in sales as we urged people to concentrate on putting their hard-earned money into their community.
“Now we are asking them to do the same while we are in national lockdown. We know times are tough for so many of us, but by spending a little with a local trader it boosts the whole community and the county.
“Below are a series of websites that highlight the many businesses of Shropshire that are offering online orders or home delivery.
“I would also encourage businesses who are not featured but would like to be, to visit out social media pages and comment, post a link or a photo and we will give you a shout out.
“We are dedicated to supporting out businesses big and small, and along with business grants will be doing all we can to help.”
