Parking in Ellesmere

Related topics: Uncategorized

Parking charges were introduced in Ellesmere earlier this year, and the council would like to remind motorists that normal parking enforcement is now taking place in the town centre.

For the car parks at Cross St/Talbot Street and Spar Bridge, between 8am and 6pm, seven days a week, there is a requirement to pay and display from ticket machines, or purchase season tickets. Parking is free outside these charging hours.

For further details on season tickets, please contact Shropshire Parking Service (via the council’s customer service centre) on 0345 678 9019 or email customer.service@shropshire.gov.uk

For Ellesmere town centre streets, various different restrictions are in place, for example:

  • Loading bays, which are restricted for loading only during certain times of the day.
  • On-street limited waiting bays, parking up to 40 minutes free.
  • Double and single yellow lines.

We recommend that drivers check they are parking within the regulations, which is stated on signposts immediately next to the parking areas on-street.  If you wish to check any details, further information can be found by clicking this link.

Normal parking enforcement started from Monday 6 June.

Samantha Tharme, transport planner for Shropshire Council, said: “We introduced new parking charges in Ellesmere at the beginning of May.  It appears that for most people things are running smoothly, and we are making sure that the on-street restrictions, such as loading bays and short stay parking are being used properly, so shops can get their deliveries and people can get to the shops they want.”
