Shropshire Youth Facebook page
A new Shropshire Youth Facebook page has been launched by county Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) and the Speak Out (SO) Group with support from the council.
MYPs represent young people locally, regionally and nationally, and influence policies on a range of issues. The SO Group meets regularly to discuss young people’s issues, take part in meetings with councillors, as well as support the MYPs to run events for young people.
The Facebook page aims to give young people another voice on matters that affect them. Young people can use the page to discuss events and issues in Shropshire and put questions to MYPs, the SO Group or the council team providing support to them.
Alternatively people can just visit the page to find out more about Shropshire Youth, MYPs, the SO Group and what is happening in the county for young people.
Councillor Aggie Caesar-Homden, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for youth provision, said:
“The Youth Parliament and Speak Out Group in Shropshire are among a wide range of initiatives which help young people to share their thoughts, opinions and ideas.
“We always welcome input from all young people into what happens, both within and beyond their local community. Having this dedicated Facebook page means we can add to the variety of ways in which young people can get involved.”
Kathryn Brooke, Shropshire deputy MYP, said:
“We launched the page to allow young people to have a say on the big issues happening in the county.
“It will give a voice to young people and also provide a direct link to Members of Youth Parliament and the Speak Out Group in Shropshire.”
