The next Whitchurch area Local Joint Committee (LJC)  is on Wednesday 17 June at 7pm at Higher Heath Village Hall, Twemlows Avenue, Higher Heath. Everyone is welcome to attend this public meeting and doors open at 6.30pm for you to speak to your local councillors.

The LJC are hosting a specialist speaker from Shropshire Council to talk about key changes brought about by the Care Act from April 2015. This speaker will clarify the nature of what users and carers can expect from the council, and you are encouraged to attend to hear about these important changes, and will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Councillor Paul Wynn, Chair of the LJC, said:-

“Some changes to the Care Act came into force on 1 April 2015 and others – the care cap – will be introduced from April 2016. Whitchurch LJC have invited a specialist along to talk about these changes, and to explain how Shropshire Council has responded and can help carers and those who are cared for.  I would like to invite everyone to this meeting to be able to ask questions about these changes.”

Through the PACT session, the local policing team and representatives from Shropshire Fire & Rescue will also be giving updates on concerns and keeping you up to date on local schemes.

Whitchurch area LJC takes place three times per year and is a chance to have your say about local initiatives, or how national policies are implemented locally. You can either submit a question prior to the meeting to enable the committee to invite an expert along, or ask during ‘question time’ at the meeting.
