Good Companions Lunch Club in Ludlow every month

Shropshire Council is inviting people who live with dementia and their carers along to its Good Companions Lunch Club on Tuesday 10 March 2015 from 11am to 2pm at Helena Lane in Ludlow.

The club, which takes place every second Tuesday of the month, offers people a chance to take part in a number of activities, have lunch and make friends with others in their community.

For £8.50, you get a two-course lunch, and drinks.

They are being organised by Shropshire Council in partnership with Healthy Friendships, Hands Together Ludlow and Helena Lane’s daycare team.

Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“The club is open to local people and provides a friendly space in which people who experience dementia can catch up with friends, or meet new ones. It’s a great way for people to be part of their community, and remain as independent as possible.”

Contact David Key at Helena Lane on 01584 871400 for more details and referrals for the lunch club.

The Care Act will come into effect from 1 April 2015. Shropshire Council is already working toward the approaches described within the Act, so many will see little change in the service they receive.
