Community tree planting in Much Wenlock

Related topics: Community / Partner organisations

Much Wenlock Tree Forum will be planting trees at Cuan House Wildlife Centre on Saturday 10 January 2015 starting at 10am.  The aim of the tree planting exercise is to provide a hedgerow that will not only serve as shelter for wildlife and rescue animals, bud also help reduce surface water runoff in the immediate area.

The Tree Forum is looking for volunteers to help make the day a success.  Parking is being provided by Shropshire Council at the Stretton Road Car Park, Much Wenlock, and volunteers should bring with them suitable clothing and a spade.

David Turner, local Shropshire Councillor for Much Wenlock, said:

“This is a great opportunity for the local community to get actively involved.  Not only will the trees that are to be planted help the rescue centre and local wildlife, but the planting of trees in this manner can also help to reduce flood risk too.”
