A fun-packed, free afternoon providing information, guidance and activities for children and families is happening at Crowmoor Primary School, Monkmoor, Shrewsbury on Wednesday 24 September 2014.

The BIG Family Event will be supported by a number of organisations, including the Family Information Service, children’s centre services, West Mercia Police, Shrewsbury Baptist Church, Autism West Midlands and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.  These and many more organisations will be on hand to provide information and advice to parents.

Shropshire Council’s leisure services team will also be putting on a wide range of activities for children to take part in.

Local councillor Pam Moseley, Chair of the Local Governance Board in Monkmoor, explained:

“The BIG Family Event in Monkmoor will provide information and help for local families in an informal setting.  There will be lots of activities for children to keep them occupied whilst parents and carers visit the stalls to find out what’s on offer for families locally.  Do come along on 24 September – there will be something for all the family.”

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“The BIG Family Event is a free event open to the whole community, as well as parents and families of Crowmoor Primary School.  I would encourage everyone in the local community to come along, find out more about services on offer in your area, and have some fun at the same time.”
