Council urges residents to look out for scam canvassers
Shropshire Council Public Protection Team is urging the public to be on the lookout for individuals who are approaching local residents pretending to be canvassing on behalf of Electoral Services.
The call out comes following a complaint from local resident claiming she was visited by someone seeking information allegedly relating to the Electoral Roll.
Genuine canvassers are not knocking on doors at the moment as Shropshire Council has completed its annual canvass of households and published its new Register of Electors on 14 February 2014.
The team would like to urge people to be aware of potential fraudulent canvassers. All Shropshire Council staff members carry identity badges and they will never mind while a resident checks their authenticity.
Anyone with concerns is urged to contact Shropshire Council elections office: 0345 678 9015.
