St Oswald and Llanymynech LJC’s next meeting on 8 October

Local people from the St Oswald and Llanymynech Local Joint Committee (LJC) area are encouraged to attend the first meeting of the new financial year on Tuesday 8 October 2013 at Morda Village Hall.

The meeting will start at 7pm and is scheduled to include updates from Rik Klair, the new police inspector for the area, about the changes within West Mercia Police, and from Shropshire Fire and Rescue on local initiatives they are running.

Tim Smith, Shropshire Council’s north area commissioner, will also be there to discuss his role amid changes at the council.

Also on the agenda are updates for the area on tourism, transport, the National Grid consultation, and the countywide broadband project.  The meeting will also hear feedback on several projects aimed at young people, including Llanymynech Skatepark.

The meeting has a regular item on the agenda allowing all members of the community opportunity to raise any questions or concerns that they may have.

Arthur Walpole, Chairman of the LJC, said:

“These meetings provide a chance for people to tell councillors their views on local issues and services, and to allow us to use our budget to benefit the local community.  This will be a key opportunity for local people to raise any questions or concerns they have around important issues raised at the meeting, including tourism, National Grid proposals and broadband.  We will also receive an update on previously-funded youth-related projects, and hope people will come along to hear more.”

The committee has an annual budget of £15,500 to spend on community projects within the area, covering the parishes of Oswestry Rural, Llanyblodwel, Llanymynech and Pant, Melverley, Kinnerley and Knockin.
