Repairs to Catherton Cattle Grid

Related topics: Community

Catherton Common Cattle Grid, which is on the minor C6248 road from Hill House to Catherton, was closed for essential repair work on Monday 4 March 2013.

The work, which is anticipated to take up to three weeks to complete, is being carried out by Ringway on behalf of Shropshire Council.  It involves the removal of the old cattle grid, breaking out and rebuilding the concrete outer walls of the grid, and the installation of a new one.

Unfortunately, there is not enough room at the cattle grid to allow traffic to pass while the work is carried out, so the road has been closed to traffic at the cattle grid.  There is access for pedestrians, cyclists and horses.

A signed diversion route is in place taking traffic out to the A4117 at Foxwood and back around by Hopton Wafers.
