The StrettonDale Local Joint Committee (LJC) will be welcoming Mal Price, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for economic growth and prosperity, to their next meeting on Thursday 21 February 2013 at All Stretton Village Hall at 7pm.

George Candler, Commissioning Director, and Chris Edwards, Area Commissioner, will be present to provide an overview of the pilot project coming up in Church Stretton which will test out new ways to commission services for the council.

Mal Price will be attending to talk about the work of Shropshire Council in relation to the new planning policy system, and in particular the Community Infrastructure Levy, which is a levy payable on any new open market housing and extensions over a certain size.

Tim Barker, chairman of the committee, said:

This is a great opportunity for local residents to come along and find out about the changes in the new planning policies, and the financial benefits which will now be available to local communities as a result of development.  It is also a chance to get in at the start of some exciting developments around commissioning services, and how Church Stretton can play a part in shaping their own service delivery by the council.”

The meeting will also include an update from the Church Stretton local policing team, an update on the local Flood Forum, and reports on news and events from the parishes that form the LJC.  The committee will also consider funding applications that have been received since the last meeting.  Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and to take part in the discussions.
