Funding available for projects in the Ellesmere area
Members of Ellesmere Local Joint Committee (LJC), which covers the parishes of Cocksutt Cum Petton, Welshampton & Lyneal, Welsh Frankton, Dudleston Heath and Ellesmere Town, are inviting local organisations to apply for funding.
The group has £5,780 remaining in this current year’s budget, and are keen that groups contact the community action officer to start planning to submit applications prior to the application closing date of 22 February 2013.
The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 26 March 2013 at Criftins Parish Hall. Items on the agenda include a presentation from Marches Energy Agency regarding alternative solutions to increasing energy costs.
Councillor Ann Hartley, Chairman of the LJC, said:
”We are looking to allocate this budget at our next meeting, and would like to hear from any groups are supporting the area. We have supported 12 applications from our current budget, and are happy to look at requests ranging from £100 to £2,000 for each project. In many cases our community action officer has given advice and directed groups to alternative or additional funding.”
Projects funded to date total £8,929, and include £1,389 to assist Ellesmere Rotary in purchasing two public access defibrillators, and £400 to support the Welshampton Bonfire Committee to run lantern workshops and take part in Ellesmere’s Winter Festival.
