Spooky and ghostly guided walks
For a spooky night out, why not come along to one of Shrewsbury Ghost Walks this October and November (2012).
Those brave enough to join a tour will get to know about the grey lady at the Lion Hotel, learn about the monks seen around Old St Chads, and hear about the man buried alive in St Julian’s churchyard.
The tours start at 7pm and take place during October and November 2012. They run on Thursdays 11, 18, & 25 October, and each night throughout half term (Monday to Saturday) including Halloween on 31 October.
During November the tours will be on Thursdays 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for tourism and leisure, said:
“Shrewsbury is one of the most haunted towns in England, and a guided ghost walk is the ideal way to learn more about them. Although our guides cannot guarantee any sightings, I am sure many of those joining the tours will be intrigued by the fascinating and somewhat gruesome stories to be told.”
Tickets are £4 for adults and £2.50 for children (16 and under). These tours are always very popular, and it is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment.
The tours can be booked in person at the Shrewsbury Visitor Information Centre, Rowley’s House, Barker Street, Shrewsbury, or by telephone with a credit/debit card via 01743 258888 at the centre. The centre is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am–5pm.
