Gobowen IT Learning Project open morning
There will be an IT and biscuits morning at the Pavilion in Gobowen on Thursday 20 September 2012. The event will take place between 10am and midday to launch the new Gobowen IT Learning Project.
The new facilities will offer IT learning opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. The learning project is run by local volunteers who will be offering one-to-one support for beginners, as well as a range of workshops in digital photography, Internet shopping and jobhunting online. Local residents are welcome to come along to the launch, have a cup of tea and chat to volunteers about the sort of things they would like to learn.
The Gobowen IT Learning Project has been supported by Gobowen Parish Council and Shropshire Council.
Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for flourishing Shropshire communities, said:
“We are very pleased to support the IT learning Project in Gobowen. The enthusiasm from local volunteers has been excellent, and it will provide a valuable resource to those living in the local community.”
David Lloyd MBE, a local Shropshire Councilor for Gobowen, Selattyn and Weston Rhyn, said:-
“This is an exciting opportunity for local residents. Since the closure of the Silo, the parish council has been keen for local people of all ages to have access to computers and IT learning again. We particularly hope that jobseekers in the area will make use of the facility.”
Following the launch, there will be IT drop-in session every Thursday morning between 10am and midday. Equipment is available to borrow or learners can bring their own. There is a suggested donation of £1 per session and refreshments will be available. For more information please contact Penny on 01691 682683 or visit www.shropshirebroadplaces.org.uk.
