Picking up litter locally – Harlescott in Shrewsbury

Related topics: Community

Last Friday (31 August 2012) over 20 residents from Kynaston Road, Langford and Beaufort Green in Harlescott, Shrewsbury came together to clean up their community.

The initiative originated from a community consultation which highlighted litter as a local concern, and with the support of Shropshire Council and Severnside Housing Association, the tidy up was advertised and residents were encouraged to volunteer.

Vernon Bushell, local Shropshire Councillor for Harlescott, has been supporting the project from the start, and said:

“I was really pleased to see local residents, including children, taking a keen interest in how the area looks.  We could all see the difference after the tidy up and I hope that other parts of Harlescott will follow this positive example.”
